Today is Woody’s 16th birthday!

The youngest of my siblings and the only brother, he and Dad have always lived in a girls world. He’s grown to be one of the most beautiful people I know.
All his life, we’ve had a special bond, him and I. When I moved out he would come and stay for a week, we’d go on lots of adventures. He was 10 then, and now on his birthday he’s 16! The youngest of my siblings, and he’s all grown up! It’s terrifying really when in my head he’s still this bold 8 year old boy trying to chat up my friends.
Uncle Woody
When I found out I was pregnant, I knew how every single member of my family was going to react… except Woody.
The girls were always going to be incredible Aunties. Rosie had been begging me to make her an Aunty for years. But I had no idea how Woody felt about the idea of being an Uncle.
To tell them I bought them all cards that they had to scratch off. They revealed the words “the only thing better than having you as my brother/sister is my baby having you as an uncle/auntie”. From that moment on he was so excited. They planned the gender reveal and it was beautiful.

When TinyHuman was born, Uncle Woody was so scared- he was so fragile. But he embraced him.
TinyHuman adores his Uncle, as do I. Watching my brother embrace my son with so much love fills me with inexplicable joy.
I can’t wait to watch their bond grow as they do. I’m under no illusions of the type of trouble they will no doubt get into together!
So, little brother, I wish you the happiest of birthdays. Keep chasing those dreams and keep being you.
